According to the McKinsey Quarterly study into the extent of the Chinese internet boom, Chinese consumers who live in large cities expect their internet purchases to arrive following day. Inhabitants of smaller towns know that they’ll have to wait whatever they’re prepared to pay. Whereas Western online shoppers are used to being able to pay more for next day delivery. In China it’s considered normal to try before you buy, even online! Clothing retailers’ couriers will wait while the customer tries on the clothes before accepting payment. In fact, the majority of Chinese online shoppers purchase clothing. American consumers, however, prefer to buy products associated with the Travel industry.
