An Indian Summer for Facebook?

The world’s largest social network is losing a large number of users not only in the United Kingdom, but also in the United States, Canada and Japan. Last month, 1.4 million British people deleted their Facebook account. These figures confirm the trend over the last six months: the social network lost around 2 million British visitors and 9 million Americans. Moreover, the number of minutes spent on Facebook also decreased. In the meantime, the social media giant is growing in Brazil and India. Indeed both countries experienced a positive and significant improvement in terms of monthly visitors: +6% and +4% respectively. Among these Internet users, around two out of three access Facebook or Twitter with a total of 66 million social media users. Accounting for 97% of the traffic, Facebook is the largest social network within the country with over 64 million monthly visitors. And its popularity keeps rising with a 4% increase compared with last month. Besides, the number of social media users through devices is expected to grow significantly since India is also experiencing a rise in the number of mobile Internet users. This number is expected to nearly double by March 2015 and rise to 165 million users. Promoting your business through social media in India appears to be an interesting choice given that more and more Indians are using social networks.
